Safeguarding

Policy Statement

Kilbegnet/Glinsk Parish in Association with the Diocese of Elphin values and encourages the participation of children and young people in all aspects of parish and in activities that enhance their development. As all involved in working with children and young people have a special duty of care towards them, we have procedures and practices in place through which this care is put into effect.

As a Parish Faith Community, we recognise and uphold the dignity and rights of all children, and are committed to ensuring their safety and well-being, and will work in partnership with parents/guardians to do this.

We recognise each child as a gift from God, and we value and encourage the participation of children in all activities that enhance their spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual and social development. All Church personnel (including clergy, religious, staff and volunteers) have a responsibility to safeguard children through promoting their welfare, health and development in a safe and caring environment that supports their best interests and prevents abuse.

It is our policy in Kilbegnet/Glinsk Parish to work in partnership with all State agencies charged with the welfare of children and young people.
